The genesis of Love Mom & Pops began one hot summer day in Austin in 2008 when Manuel & Laura Flores decided to introduce their small children to the “paleta” or frozen pop, a traditional frozen treat that they had each enjoyed as children growing up on the US-Mexico border.
Unfortunately, all that the grocery stores and paleteros had to offer were paletas full of high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, preservatives and stabilizers. The Flores decided their only option was to make their own paletas at home. They started creating recipes using fresh, all natural and organic ingredients. Their kids were the official taste testers and it soon became apparent that they would have to share their delicious creations with the rest of Austin!
Popsocology is the philosophy behind everything we do at Mom & Pops. It’s our way of blending a successful business with the values that matter most to us—family, health, community, and environmental responsibility.
We believe that a business should do more than simply sell a product. It should create positive experiences, support the community, and contribute to a healthier world. That’s why every frozen pop we make reflects our commitment to quality ingredients, honest practices, and meaningful connections with our customers.
We love this Earth that sustains and nourishes us, so we are doing the best we can to care for our environment by sourcing ingredients from local farmers. We also compost nearly everything that can’t be frozen into a pop, recycle everything possible, and purchase used equipment. We chose our name because we literally are a “mom & pop” business that relies on local support from our Austin area community.

While we don’t have a physical store location yet, we are available for small event catering and bulk orders across the Dallas area.
